The Strike of an Idea: Why I Created FitCheck
Hey friends! My name is Hannah Hartel, and I am the founder and owner of FitCheck. I wanted to share about the creation of FitCheck, how the company was created, and why it’s personal to me. As a 22-year-old marketing major, I’m all about finding ways to make life easier, especially when it comes to things like shopping. And if you’re like me, you’ve probably had those moments where you’re online shopping, see the cutest dress, and then realize you have no clue if it’s going to look good on you. I know I’m not the only one who has ordered the cutest dress online and when it arrived it did not fit right. What a waste of time and money right?
That’s why I decided to create FitCheck. It all started when I was on a shopping spree (more like a “shopping panic” because it was 3am.) Not to mention, I was also supposed to be getting work done. I was scrolling through my favorite online stores, but every time I chose something, I started second-guessing myself. I wished I could actually see how the clothes would fit me before clicking “buy.” Obviously I couldn’t, which led me to an idea. I thought to myself, “Why isn’t there a way to virtually try on clothes before I buy them?” I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who wished for something like that. Like, how amazing would it be if you could just see yourself in an outfit, without leaving your house? That’s when I realized I could definitely make this happen, and the creation of FitCheck began.
Bringing the Idea to Life
Introducing FitCheck: An app that lets you virtually try on clothes using AI-powered fitting rooms! I knew there had to be a way to make shopping more efficient and way less stressful. No more worrying about whether that dress will look cute on you. You can literally try it on from your phone or computer, and get a sense of how it’ll look on your very own body.
As the founder, I’ve been the one to work on building the app from the ground up. Being a marketing major, I didn’t know anything about coding or building an app at first, but that didn’t stop me. I’ve learned a ton along the way (and Google has definitely been my best friend), but the best part has been seeing it all come together.
Honestly, the creation of FitCheck has been a rollercoaster. There were so many late nights of brainstorming, designing, and testing. However, every time I see someone using FitCheck and loving it, I know it was 100% worth it. Being the founder means I’m involved in everything—from managing the AI fitting rooms to working with the stylists to make sure everything runs smoothly. I’m a part of every step of the way, and it’s the best feeling knowing that FitCheck is helping people feel more confident and comfortable with their shopping choices.
Shop Smarter, Not Harder
At the end of the day, FitCheck is about more than just trying on clothes virtually. It’s about making shopping easier and more fun. I want people to be able to shop from the comfort of their homes and feel good about their choices. No more wasted money, no more stressful returns, just easy shopping that makes you feel confident every time.
